Trio Writing...New Video...Lots of Chicken

Aug 28 | Posted by: Bill Whyte |

It’s that getting over the Hump Day.

YESTERDAY

My writing appointment was cancelled but at the last second I got an invitation to write with  Steve Dean and Victoria Venier my “Hits & Grins” partners in crime.  So we sat around Victoria’s kitchen table and got a new song started and we got to catch up on all things “Hits  & Grins” as well as each other’s busy lives.  All three of us are looking forward to our show this Saturday night at Puckett’s in Franklin, Tennessee.  Showtime is 8:30 pm if you’re coming.  Great food there…do make a reservation.

I also got to see our new promotional video that was shot when we performed at the big showcase for Live Arts & Attractions  (the agency that books us) recently that will be used for potential buyers to look at when they consider us for their shows. All of us think it turned out great.  Take a LOOK.

BIG WIND

Hurricane Dorian is churning towards Florida now.  Puerto Rico is once again in the path and they don’t need it after the last one.  They’re still recovering.  Accuweather predicts that by the time it’s over a BILLION dollars worth of damage will be done. Wow.

Here’s something I did not know.  Apparently Wal Mart stocks up on Strawberry Pop Tarts before storms.  For some reason it’s a big seller at that time. They sell seven times more of it before a big storm.  You don’t have to toast them to eat them so when the power goes out…ya got a go to food I guess.

IT HAPPENS

Rick Steves the big travel expert forever on PBS just got pickpocketed in Paris. He gives tips on how to protect your valuables and money all the time. He had forgotten his own advice about wearing a money belt under your clothes and got money and credit cards stolen.  I’m sure he’ll be talking about that experience on one of his travelogues soon.

HANDS UP

Saudi Arabia will be home to the tallest, fastest, longest roller coaster soon at their Six Flags attraction.  Secure your ball caps and loose coins folks. Take a LOOK

CMA

The nominations have rolled out. Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Maren Morris and Eric Church got the most nods with two each.  Up for Entertainer Of The Year?

Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban and Eric Church.

And in other country music news.  Blake Shelton just recorded his 26th #1 song with “God’s Country”. That puts him in an elite group of four or so that have had that many. Strait, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw.  Pretty tall cotton there.

CLUCK CLUCK

Popeye’s sold out of their new chicken sandwich. It’s that popular. The new non-chicken sandwich at KFC that went up for sale yesterday had folks lined up to try it. Many are saying “it taste just like chicken”.  And then you’ll find yourself in line every time you go to Chik Fil A.  Every time.  Chicken do be really popular right now.

I can’t see me eating a Vegan chicken…but who knows? And that leads to this vegan joke.

“How many vegans does it take to change a light bulb”?

Answer:  Two. One to change it and one to check for animal ingredients.

TODAY

My writing appointment today is with a great guitar player and blue-grasser Tim Stafford who is part of the bluegrass group “Blue Highway”.  We’ve only written once before so it will be fun writing with Tim again and hearing him play guitar. Just a pleasure for sure.

Have a great Wednesday!
